The best time to travel in Iceland is between late June and mid-August, when weather conditions are at their best and roads and tracks are most passable. In fact, some accommodations are only open during this short period of the year, to make up for the high number of summer visitors. The days are very long around July, and the almost midnight sun makes for beautiful sunsets that go on forever. Calling all photographers!
Spring and early autumn have the advantage of fewer tourists, with the gradual melting or, on the contrary, the return of the snow, which may limit certain trips but often allows you to benefit from better prices.
If you prefer to admire Iceland under its beautiful white coat, opt for a winter adventure! You'll need to be well-equipped, and adjust your itinerary: most winter itineraries remain circular, taking Route 1, which is frequently cleared of snow, in complete safety.
