The answer is yes! You can cancel your car hire free of charge up to 2 working days before pick-up.

It is also possible to modify your reservation up to 48 working hours before pick-up. Be careful, the price will be updated if you make any changes to your reservation. 

It is unfortunately not possible to cancel or modify your reservation less than 48h before the pick up. 

To rent a car in Portugal , you must present a valid driver's license from your home country that obtained at least 12 months ago, your passport or an identity card with a picture, and your credit card.

If your driver's license is European, it is valid for car rentals in Italy. Nonetheless, for more assurance, obtaining an international driver's license may be compelling, especially if yours is not written in English. Watch out! The international license does not replace your original driver’s license, it only complements it. You must have both documents with you at all times.

In Europe, the majority of rental vehicles are equipped with a manual transmission and those with an automatic transmission are generally more expensive.

In some countries, foreign drivers must have an International Driving Permit (IDP), which is valid for 1 to 3 years. It's an official translation of your driver's license in a dozen languages and you can use it in over 150 countries! 

It can be required or simply recommended depending on the country. In Italy, it is required for all non-European travelers.

All over the world, age conditions and restrictions are applied for car rentals.

An increase in the price of the rented vehicle can therefore be induced. The minimum age required for a car rental varies according to the country of destination. In addition, each rental company can decide for themself whether to maintain this minimum age or to increase the minimum age limit for car rentals.

In Portugal, the minimum age required to rent a car is 21 years old. Certain rental agencies also set a maximum age!

Car seat regulations vary from country to country. You must always check the road safety regulations, for your child's safety, for the country that you reside in and/or for the countries you are visiting. 

In Portugal, a child seat is mandatory if the child is under 135 cm tall or less than 12 years old.

If your seat meets these standards, bring it with you! It's free to bring with most airlines and your child will be comfortable and feeling right at home.

Otherwise, you will have to consider renting a child seat with your vehicle. This option will be payable in advance or at the counter, depending on the rental companies.

Please note that not all rental companies offer this option.
