If there's one ideal season to travel to Portugal, it's spring! The climate is mild and dry, allowing you to make the most of your trip. May, June and September are the most recommended months to visit.
Of course, summer remains a pleasant season, but it can sometimes be very hot and availability is reduced due to school vacations. If you choose this season, plan to book your trip at least six months in advance to ensure availability.
The climate in Portugal is generally temperate, Mediterranean in style, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures that never drop below freezing. That being said, be mindful of the humidity. The Atlantic Ocean brings a lot of humidity to the coast. In summer, opt for north-west Portugal, and in winter for south-east Portugal.
Travelling outside the school vacations is pleasant as there are far fewer travellers and rental prices are more competitive.
