To rent a car in Iceland, you must present a valid driver's license from your home country that obtained at least 12 months ago, your passport and your credit card.

If you do not have a European, European Economic Area (Liechtenstein and Norway), Canadian or American driver's license, you have to obtain an international driver's license. Watch out! The international license does not replace your original driver’s license, it only complements it. You must have both documents with you at all times.
