The best time to travel in Iceland is mainly between late June and mid-August, when weather conditions are at their best and roads and tracks are most passable.

In fact, some accommodations are only open during this short period of the year, to make up for the high number of summer visitors. The days are very long around July, and the almost midnight sun makes for beautiful sunsets that go on forever. Photographers beware!

Spring and early autumn have the advantage of fewer tourists, with the gradual melting or return of the snow, which may limit some trips but often means better prices.

If you're planning a road trip to Iceland between June and August, we recommend booking as early as possible.

The destination is very much in demand during this short period, which is often the best time to enjoy an unforgettable trip in the best possible conditions.

If you book your trip at the last minute, you run the risk of a lack of availability, or of the most beautiful places being fully booked.

Finally, the earlier you book, the more you'll save, so there's no good reason to wait before booking your trip.
